I’ve been in practice as a pediatric neuropsychologist at Doernbecher Children’s Hospital since 2015. I hold a faculty position at OHSU in the Department of Pediatrics serving children with a history of childhood cancers, as well as their families. Prior to joining the faculty, I completed a two-year postdoctoral fellowship at OHSU. I am excited to join Behavioral Diagnostics & Treatment on a part-time basis to expand service to the Portland Community.
I see my current practice as twofold – assessment and intervention. I utilize tailored assessments to understand learning styles, and I can help student’s harness their strengths in order navigate the challenges of school and life. When needed, comprehensive assessments provide students, parents, and stakeholders information about how the student learns best. Assessments can help identify and untangle learning problems and the often intermingled issues related to emotion and behaviors. Of course, all of these may play a role in a student’s school performance.
Following all assessments, we carefully review results with students and families to craft a plan in a collaborative way to strengthen motivation. I can make recommendations to educators and schools in order to create a learning plan. I often provide follow-up or brief interventions that focus on improved self-regulation, accessing strengths learned from the assessment, parenting approaches, and coaching and consultation. When necessary, I make referrals to other treatment providers.
My specialty training and clinical experiences have been solely dedicated to better understanding the relationship between our brains and our behaviors. I am passionate about utilizing neuropsychological assessment tools to help students reach their potential and families to understand how to help.
